Russian neo-Nazi seized in Oslo

A Russian citizen described as a well-known neo-Nazi who escaped from a psychiatric hospital in St Petersburg last month was arrested in Oslo on Tuesday, when he applied for asylum.

TV2 reported that the man, who also is a kick boxer, was arrested along with two others after he had entered the offices in downtown Oslo where police and immigration authorities handle residence and work permits.

He reportedly also had a loaded revolver, which he turned over police when they were summoned to the immigration office.

A spokesman for the Oslo Police District said they had seized weapons and other items “that give this case high priority.” All three have been charged with arms violations.

The man who escaped from the psychiatric hospital reportedly has been a founder of the neo-Nazi organization Slavisk Forbund, which was declared illegal in Russia in March of this year. Russian website Gazeta reported that it has set up an office in Norway.
