Nine arrested after weekend shooting episode

Police had nine persons under arrest during the weekend following a shooting episode at Furuset on Oslo’s east side on Friday. Three of those under arrest are charged with attempted murder.

The shooting, which occurred late on the night following the 17th of May Constitution Day holiday, is reportedly tied to gang violence in Oslo.

Police said the nine persons were arrested Saturday night. Several shots had been fired on Friday, leaving a 20-year-old victim seriously wounded, but the wounds were not believed to be life-threatening.

Police don’t believe the person shot was a coincidental victim, and later tied the shooting to the so-called B-gjengen, a criminal gang in Oslo.
