Norwegian universities continue to lag far behind the international rankings of those in other Nordic countries, but the University of Oslo did manage to climb 17 spots in the latest Times Higher Education rankings released this week.
The University of Oslo (UiO) is now ranked in 185th place among the world’s top-200 institutions of higher education, with the California Institute of Technology in first place and Harvard and Oxford tied for second.
UiO is the only Norwegian university to make it into the top 200, while Sweden can claim a spot in the top 40 with the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm ranked 36th. News bureau NTB reported that Sweden can boast five universities in the top 200, while Denmark has three and Finland has one.
