Man threatened pedestrians with axe

Police responded in large numbers on Friday morning after receiving several calls for help from pedestrians on Møllergata in downtown Oslo. They claimed that a man was threatening them by swinging an axe.

The calls started coming in around 9:30am: “Several people called in that a person was chasing after them with an axe,” operations leader Vidar Pedersen of the Oslo Police District told NRK. “We arrived shortly thereafter. No one was injured but he had been extremely threatening.”

Police launched another major manhunt, just a day after searching for and arresting another man who had fired shots near Ullevål University Hospital. They tracked down the suspect and arrested him shortly after 10am outside the Oslo City shopping center and office complex, across from Oslo’s central train station.
