Another storm was blowing hard over much of Southern Norway Saturday afternoon and state meteorologists were warning that it would get worse throughout the night and into Sunday. Eight counties were bracing for another deluge.
Both highway officials and meteorologists had already warned those on winter holidays in the mountains to start driving home or to lower elevations. Gale-force winds and blizzards were likely to close most highways over the mountains on Sunday.
The seas were rough off the West Coast and driving was hazardous in many areas of Hordaland and Sogn og Fjordane. Trøndelag was also due to be battered and motorists were told on Saturday to “drive down from the mountains as soon as possible.”
