A 30-year-old man who worked as a day care center teacher in Tromsø has now been formally charged with 17 sexual assaults on children. He’s been ordered held in custody for at least another four weeks, while police continue to investigate the case.
Police reported that the charges against the man, who was arrested May 6, have been expanded to encompass 32 assaults on the 17 children. Initial charges involved 11 children.
Six of the assaults are viewed as involving sexual intercourse between the man and his young victims. Other assaults involve him taking photos or video of the children in sexually provocative positions.
The man has been cooperating with police and his defense attorney said he also has given police information they hadn’t otherwise obtained. He is not believed to have spread the photos or video.
