Solberg relishes being World Champion

Norwegian race car driver Petter Solberg, who sprang to international fame for his rally victories, was cherishing his latest title won over the weekend as World Champion in rallycross once again. Now he’s setting his sights on the world’s most dangerous race: Rally Dakar.

Solberg was, meanwhile, celebrating the defense of his rallycross championship in Argentina. Newspaper Aftenposten noted that Solberg, who just turned 41, loves challenges and was keen on driving in Rally Dakar next month. He just needed to concentrate on winning his third World Championship first.

He’ll be taking his trophy home to Sweden, though, where he now lives with his wife Pernilla and son Oliver. And then he’ll start working on preparations for a later Rally Dakar, once he gets the right car brand and team around him.
