Police investigate band of bold burglars

Homeowners from Vestfold in the west to Østfold in the east have reported unusual break-ins while they’ve been sound asleep. The burglars have gained entry by drilling small holes through window panes to force the windows open, and then stealing small items such as wallets, electronic devices and cash.

Five homes in Moss, south of Oslo, were hit by the thieves sometime between midnight and 4am on Wednesday. All the homes were located on the same street in the same neighbourhood.

Reports of similar burglaries have been filed with police in Vestfold, on the opposite side of the Oslofjord and in the Drammen area and Romerike. The methods of entry were the same, with 17 such break-ins registered in Drammen from March 19-23.

The various police districts involved are now cooperating in the investigation to find out who’s behind the break-ins and apprehend them.
