Norwegian football woes continued this week, after one of the country’s biggest clubs lost a critical match against Celtic at their own Lerkendal Stadium in Trondheim. The loss on Wednesday night ruined Rosenborg (RBK)’s hopes of returning to Europe’s Champions League.
The league qualifier ended in disappointment, when James Forest kicked in Celtic’s winning goal after 70 minutes of play. Rosenborg had held them off but also missed scoring opportunities of their own.
Celtic won by a score of 1-0 and fans’ chants to “take us back” to the Champions League were in vain. Now Rosenborg will move on to playoffs in the Europaliga, but that was small comfort for the RBK players and fans.
