Baggage blunder embarrasses airline

Hundreds of Norwegians from Bergen found themselves in both Rome and Alicante in Spain this weekend, without their luggage. They were victims of a major baggage blunder by crews handling suitcases checked in at airline Norwegian.

All the baggage that was tagged for Rome wound up on Norwegian’s flight to Alicante, while all the baggage bound for Alicante landed in Rome, reports newspaper Bergens Tidende

A spokesman for Norwegian Air, Lasse Sandaker-Nielsen, said the firm they hired to handle baggage sent the suitcases on the wrong flights.

“What happened is completely unacceptable,” he told Bergens Tidende. “We will take this up with our sub-contractor immediately.”
