The first print run of Jo Nesbø’s new crime novel Politi sold out in just two days, reports news bureau NTB. The much-anticipated initial run of 270,000 was in itself very large for Norway. Publishing firm Aschehoug now plans to print another 115,000 copies, approaching record levels, a spokesperson said.
Nesbø’s books have been published in more than 40 countries, making him the most translated Norwegian author. Rights for Politi have been sold to the UK, the US, Canada, Russia and Ukraine among others.
The Danes and the Swedes will be the first non-Norwegians to read Nesbø’s new book in their own language. The first English-language release is scheduled for September 12 in the UK.
