City officials in Oslo were ready to honour Norway’s neighbouring country of Finland on Wednesday by lighting up the city’s Holmenkollen Ski Jump in blue and white, the colours of Finland’s national flag.
Oslo Mayor Marianne Borgen and Finland’s ambassador to Norway, Erik Lundberg, were set to turn on the lights in time for celebrations on Wednesday to mark Finland’s 100th anniversary of independence.
Several other landmarks around the world were also honouring Finland’s centennial, with state broadcaster NRK reporting that Niagara Falls in New York and the Colosseum in Rome would be lit up in blue and white as well.
