Chinese travel firm keen on Norway

At a time when the Chinese government is trying to punish Norway over a Nobel Peace Prize awarded in Oslo four years ago, one of China’s largest real estate developers wants to invest in both Scandinavia and the Baltic countries, including Norway.

Newspaper Dagens Næringsliv (DN) reported that Huang Nubo isn’t refusing to speak with Norwegians like his government is. On the contrary, he notes that China’s emerging middle class will form the world’s largest travel market, and that many may want to visit Scandinavia, not least Norway. Lots already are, with Chinese tourists registering among the largest increases among all tourists in Norway in recent years.

“My dream is to build a travel service that will be respected around the world,” Huang Nubo recently told CNBC Asia. He said he’s evaluating tourism investments in Scandinavia, to accommodate increasing arrivals of Chinese toursits. “Within the next three years, the goal is to enter Norway, Denmark, Finland and Sweden,” he told CNBC.
