Tickets went on sale Monday morning for the Eurovision Song Contest final, which Norway will host in May. Within 20 minutes, the 8,263 tickets allotted to the general public were all gone.
The lavish Eurovision final will be held at the Telenor Arena at Fornebu, site of Oslo’s old airport, on May 29, when the winners of song contests in countries all over Europe will compete to claim the top European song.
All told, organizers had 90,000 tickets spread over all semi-finals, the final and rehearsals but many are reserved for sponsors and designated fans.
Norway is hosting the huge event because young Norwegian singer Alexander Rybak won the Eurovision final in Moscow last year. Norway will be represented this year by Didrik Solli-Tangen, a budding opera singer who won Norway’s national song contest Melodi Grand Prix over the weekend.
