Around 2,000 skiing fans who missed the skiing world championship (Ski-VM) events they had tickets for, because of transport chaos on February 26, will finally get their money refunded.
They were furious when the public transit system meant to get them up to Ski-VM events at Holmenkollen proved inadequate to handle the crowds. They ended up missing, for example, skiing star Marit Bjørgen win gold in the women’s pursuit event.
Ski-VM apologized profusely for the transport failure, and promised to evaluate refunds. They announced last week that 90 percent of the disappointed and angry ticket holders who filed claims after the chaotic Saturday would get their money back.
The refunds are expected to cost Ski-VM organizers around NOK 1 million.
