A Norwegian man received an unexpected gift when his lucky numbers came up in Viking Lotto’s Christmas Day draw. The man from Buskerud county, west of Oslo won NOK 106 million (USD 17.5 million), the third largest jackpot in Viking Lotto history.
While the man shared the first prize draw with another, he alone picked number 39, triggering the “lucky number pot” worth NOK 100 million reported Norwegian news agency NTB. The New Year’s Day prize pot is also set to top NOK 100 million.
The win is the latest in a lucky year for Norwegian lottery players. In May a Troms man became NOK 216 million richer, and an Asker man won NOK 116 million earlier in December.
