Norwegians swept Sweden’s ‘Vasaloppet’ race

Three long-distance Norwegian skiers claimed all the top spots in Sweden’s annual skiing marathon on Sunday called Vasaloppet. John Kristian Dahl won the race, which covers 90 kilometers (54 miles) from Sälen to Mora in Sweden.

“I’m really touched by this, it was tough today,” Dahl told Swedish Television SVT. “It was tough today. This is something you only dream about.”

Dahl, who comes from Kirkenes in Northern Norway, also won the gruelling race in 2014 and this time he shared the winners’ podium with two other Norwegians, Stian Hoelgaard and Anders Mølmen Høst.

An Austrian skier, Katerina Smutna won the women’s race, followed by Britta N Johansson and Line Korsgren of Sweden.
