Body identified as Lithuanian

A decomposed, partially buried body found by a hiker near a lake outside Drammen last month has finally been identified as a Lithuanian man who disappeared three years ago.

Police in Nedre Eiker said last week that the body was that of Anatolij Petraskevic, who had moved to Norway from Lithuania and was living at Røyken before he disappeared in 2007.

The sheriff of Nedre Eiker, Torill Sorte, told reporters that Petraskevic “was apparently the victim of a crime.” Exact cause of death wasn’t released.

His body was initially believed to be that of Belur Sardar, a mother of four who also disappeared in 2007. Her husband was briefly held on suspicion of murdering her, but he was released for lack of evidence.
