Even though the Nordic skiing world championships are over, the arenas at Holmenkollen in Oslo where they were held haven’t been idle for long.

An estimated 10,000 children, their parents and other supporters took part on Sunday in the annual Barnas Holmenkolldag, billed as the world’s biggest ski festival for children. It’s sponsored by local ski association Skiforeningen, and this year the children were able to use the grounds where Norway’s sports heroes skied and jumped their way to a huge haul of medals in late February and early March.
On March 17, the finals of the Biathlon World Cup were to start at Holmenkollen. The skiing- and shooting stars were arriving directly from the biathlon world championships in Russia, where Norwegians also steadily collected medals and now aim for more.
