Two injured in Oslo hotel fire

Two people were injured when a fire broke out on Wednesday night at the Thon Hotel Slottsparken, near the royal palace in Oslo. About 200 people were evacuated, and many of the guests were moved to nearby hotels.

One man was taken to Ullevål hospital and a woman sustained minor injuries in the fire, reported Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK). It broke out in a room on the hotel’s third floor before midnight, and was quickly extinguished by fire crews.

“Currently we’ve only received notice that this applies to one room,” said Andre Kråkenes from Oslo police. “The fire is out and we have control of the situation. There’s still a lot of smoke in the building. We don’t have complete control on the extent of the damage. It’s way too early to say anything about the cause of the fire.”

Work was underway to ventilate the smoke from the hotel and inspect the rooms for structural damage.
