Norway’s population keeps growing

Norway counted a total of 5,236,800 residents at the end of June, an increase of 13,600 since the last numbers were tallied by state statistics bureau SSB (Statistics Norway) at the end of March.

SSB reported that the numbers of births and deaths were roughly the same from April through June as they were in the same period last year. Around 15,800 babies were born while just over 9,500 people died.

SSB’s numbers also show that 8,362 people emigrated from Norway in the second quarter of this year, more than 500 than in the same period in 2015. Immigration rose even higher, though. A total of 15,652 people moved to Norway, over 1,500 more than in April, May and June of last year.
