A 66-year-old man from Austevoll near Bergen has been sentenced to eight years in jail after being found guilty of online sexual assaults against more than 60 children. Prosecutors were satisfied, calling it ” a very good and extensive conviction.”
The man was behind assaults on children both in Norway and the Philippines. Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) reported that he paid poverty-stricken parents in the Philippines to exploit their own children, who often were assaulted live online while he watched from his home in Austevoll.
He was convicted for ordering 20 children in the Philippines to carry out sexual assaults on each other. Another 42 children were victims in Norway. Several of his victims were as young as eight years old.
The conviction is the latest in a string of others against pedophiles in Norway, after police in Bergen cracked extensive online networks that so far have left more than 50 Norwegian men facing charges.
