Christmas came early to buyers of popular Tesla electric cars who didn’t think they had as much acceleration as promised. Instead of spending this week in court, after suing Tesla, they’ve settled the matter in return for cash payouts or a variety of other compensation packages.
Newspaper Dagens Næringsliv (DN) was the first to report that Tesla Motors Norway had chosen not to defend itself against the lawsuit after already losing before a local consumer commission.
The owners had demanded NOK 129,700 (USD 15,770) each but settled for a cash payment of NOK 65,000. They could opt instead for one of six alternative solutions that involve upgrades or credit towards purchase of other products. Tesla wouldn’t comment on the settlement and continued to maintain that it provided customers with correct information about acceleration on its Model S P85D and 85D in Norway.
