Somalian woman indicted for terror

A Somalian citizen living on the West Coast has become the first woman to be indicted for terrorist activity in Norway. She’s believed to have developed and spread propaganda on behalf of the brutal terrorist group IS.

State broadcaster NRK reported that the woman was arrested at Norway’s main airport at Gardermoen in December of last year. Police intelligence unit PST believes she had tried to join the extremist group in Syria herself.

Prosecutor Marit Formo called the charges against the woman “serious” and said she faces 12 years in prison. She’s believed to have transferred money on four occasions to people taking part in IS operations. She also allegedly wrote or helped edit text for IS on its website, and helped put people in contact with IS’ network in Syria. She has denied the charges against her.
