Despite all the concerns over higher interest rates, housing prices in Norway rose again in May. Real estate brokers are reporting more homes on the market and lots more interest from would-be buyers.
Norway’s national real estate organization, Eiendom Norge, reports average prices up 0.9 percent nationwide and higher is some cities. That’s not as high as the 1.2 percent monthly price rise in February, but it means that prices so long this year are up fully 8.2 percent over this time last year.
“It’s more than during the same time of the year in both 2022 and 2023,” said the organization’s leader, Henning Lauridsen. He claimed both those years saw “strong price rises during the first five months of the year,” and even stronger now.
