Bodø/Glimt wins more acclaim

News media and football stars around the world keep hailing the small Norwegian football club Bodø/Glimt, especially after its latest triumphs over the mighty Inter Milano club. Now the club is gearing up for its upcoming round against Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League.

“They continue to defy the odds,” claimed the BBC, right after Bodø/Glimt beat Inter again by a score of 2-1 in Milan. Newspaper The Independent called Bodø/Glimt “the biggest shock” in the Champion League’s history, while football legend Thierry Henry told CBS that “we can talk about money and big names but nothing beats this team.”

The team’s head coach Kjetil Knutsen continues to attribute Bodø/Glimt’s success to the “specific characteristics and qualities” team officials demand from their players: They must tolerate lots of heavy training, have strong inner motivation and value fellowship the most. “Glimt can’t compete with the huge pay and benefits offered by its opponents in the Champions League,” noted commentator Daniel Røed-Johansen in Norway’s biggest newspaper Aftenposten, “but when Knutsen’s demands are met, players are polished like diamonds.”
