Posten Bring set to slash jobs

The Norwegian postal service is now a shadow of its former self, after closing post offices and curtailing mail delivery all over the country. Now Norway’s “Posten” need to cut costs again, this time at its parcel service Posten Bring.

Last year Posten Bring cut 250 full-time-equivalent positions. Now it needs to cut costs by another 25 percent, meaning 300 employees are likely to lose their jobs by the end of the year.

News bureau NTB cited tough competition and a demand for earnings from Posten’s owner, the government ministry in charge of business and trade. The parcel service faces major reorganization, again.
