Foreign driving licenses will be more difficult to swap for a Norwegian license after the end of this month.
Applicants with licenses from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) who want to exchange them for Norwegian licenses, must do so before October 1st. The Norwegian Public Roads Administration says that those who do not apply in time will have to take almost all of the mandatory courses and training required of Norwegian drivers.
As reported earlier this year, only 11 countries outside the EEA area are due to qualify for a straight swap of licenses. As of October 1st, only licenses from Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Israel, Monaco, San Marino and the US will be eligible for a swap. Special rules apply for Japan and Switzerland.
