Islamic council plans terror protest

Norway’s Islamic council (Islamsk Råd Norge) was quick to condemn last weekend’s suicide bombing in Stockholm, and was organizing a demonstration against terrorism to be held this weekend.

The council, an umbrella organization for Islamic organizations in Norway, referred to the suicide bombing as alarming “for most of us who have lived in this otherwise peaceful corner of the world.” A statement on the council’s website claimed “the situation demands that we together strongly distance ourselves from terrorism.”

The time and exact location of the demonstration wasn’t immediately clear, but the council said it would take place in downtown Oslo on Saturday. “Everyone, regardless of their religion or politics, are heartily invited to stand together with us against terror, and to actively support an inclusive society,” the organizers stated.

More details were to be made available on the council’s website (external link).
