Police in the southern city of Kristiansand reported another fatal stabbing this week, with a man in his 30s arrested and in custody. The stabbing occurred inside a house in the residential neighborhood of Grim in Kristiansand and was a case of domestic violence.
The victim was a 38-year-old woman, and the knife believed to be the murder weapon was found at the scene. In custody was her Iranian husband, whose defense attorney claimed was “badly shaken” that his wife had died of the wounds he inflicted.
The attorney said the two had quarreled, and the quarrel “unfortunately led to what happened.”
Neighbors went to the couple’s apartment inside the house at Grim after being awakened by noise from the quarrel. Local website fvn.no reported that three of them were standing outside and pounding on the door, in the middle of the night, hoping to stop the violence. Police got their first call at 1:46am Wednesday.
Police planned a new round of questioning with an intepreter Thursday afternoon.
