Elderly victims robbed at home

Police have reported two home break-ins that resulted in robberies of elderly occupants, one of them considered brutal. Both occurred over the weekend, and no suspects are in custody.

One of the victims was a 78-year-old man who was robbed at his home in the Holmen district of Oslo. Website dittoslo.no reported that he had advertised a diamond ring for sale, but an alleged buyer who turned up at his doorstep was masked and accompanied by another masked man.

The two bound the elderly man to a chair and proceeded to ransack his home. The two robbers also threatened to kill the 78-year-old, who managed to free himself after they’d left on Saturday and call police.

Meanwhile, in Balestrand in the county of Sogn og Fjordane, robbers broke into the home of a man also in his 70s. The local sheriff told news bureau NTB that the robbers threatened the man into turning over cash. The robbery occurred sometime during the night of May 19.
