A woman called police in the early morning hours of Tuesday and reported she’d been raped in the park surrounding Norway’s Royal Palace in Oslo. No suspects were in custody by midday.
The call came in at 4:38am, reported news bureau NTB. A police spokesman told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) that the woman said she’d been knocked to the ground by a man wearing a hood who approached her from behind. He allegedly threatened her with a knife and raped her near a park bench.
The woman was driven to a local receiving station for rape victims, for testing and treatment. Police cordoned off the area where the woman was found behind the palace, and technicians were carrying out inspections Tuesday morning.
