One person was declared dead and another badly injured when a tank truck collided with a car on the E39 highway at Øysand in Sør-Trøndelag. The accident comes just two days after a fatal bus crash on the E6 highway in Nord-Trøndelag and a fatal motorcycle accident farther south in Gudbrandsdalen.
Police said the collision occurred just north of the Brekk Tunnel. Both people in the car were badly injured and one died at St Olavs Hospital in Trondheim. The driver of the tank truck appeared uninjured but was sent to a clinic for a medical check.
An accident investigation team was sent to the scene and the highway was closed for several hours. The cause of the crash wasn’t immediately known.
