Coaches, players and fans of Molde Football Club were wiping away tears of joy after winning their second league championship in a row over the weekend. Their 2-1 victory over Viking of Stavanger clinched the title and jubilation set in.
“This is great, greater than I would have thought,” Molde’s head coach, Tor Ole Skullerud, told C More when the match was over. “It’s difficult to describe.”
Molde won last year under the guidance of Ole Gunnar Solskjær, who then left the club for an ill-fated few months at Cardiff in Wales. Molde powered on without him, and Ålesund’s tie with Odd left Molde with the points needed to top the league.
“I’m proud of the way we took care of what lies n Molde when we came here (to Stavanger),” Skullerud said, adding immodestly that “we have played fantastic football this season.”
His players agreed as champagne corks popped in the locker room. “This is just fantastic, I don’t know what else to say,” said Mohamed Elyounoussi. “This is a good team and a good club.”
