Norwegian ski queen Marit Bjørgen continued her smashing performance at the Tour de Ski in Toblach, Italy on Thursday. She won her fifth race in a row and was viewed as the clear favorite to win the entire weeklong tournament.
The Tour de Ski is the only major event Bjørgen has never won. The 34-year-old veteran has claimed a huge amount of World Championship, World Cup and Olympic medals over the years but illness had a way of interfering with the annual weeklong series of Tour de Ski races in various countries in the alps.
Her teammate and friendly rival Therese Johaug won last year but Bjørgen has dominated all week this year, and skied undisturbed over the finish line of the women’s 15-kilometer pursuit on Thursday. The competition ends at Val di Fiemme on Sunday.
