‘Norwegian Wood’ cancelled again

The once-thriving outdoor Norwegian Wood music festival in Oslo has been cancelled again for 2019. The festival that was held in the Frogner Park for many years was slimmed down to just one day in 2016 and never fully recovered.

Financial problems and late bookings are behind its latest cancellation. New owner Henning Thoresen told newspaper Aftenposten this week that he made a mistake in trying to hold it last year without enough lead time. It ended up being cancelled because of poor advance ticket sales.

He took over after the former operators went bankrupt in 2017. Thoresen is still trying to raise enough capital to mount the show and attract strong headliners, with an aim to move it back to Frogner in 2020.
