Parliament cancels committee trips

Norway’s Parliament has launched a variety of measures aimed at hindering the spread of the Corona virus. All committee travel abroad has been canceled in March and April, and regular guided tours for the public on Saturdays have been cancelled indefinitely.

“We’re following the situation tied to the Corona virus closely and are taking precautions where we can, in line with health authorities,” Parliament Director Marianne Andreassen stated in a press release this week. “We’re trying to not set anyone’s life or health in danger.”

The Parliament also aims to keep all its members and staff healthy, she added, “so that our meetings, hearings and committee work will still be robust.” A multipartisan working group has also been set up “to coordinate measures and evaluate changes in our preparedness as needed.”
