Voluntary app can track infection

Norwegian health care officials have developed an app that can log its users’ movements for 30 days and thus help them track possible sources of Corona virus infection. The officials stress that use of the app will be entirely voluntary.

Norway’s public health institute (FHI) cooperated with state-owned Stimula Research Laboratory in the hopes of reducing the spread of the Corona virus and more quickly isolating those who’ve been in contact with an infected person.

It wasn’t clear when the app can be put in use, but FHI hopes it will be a matter of weeks instead of months. “We still have a considerable amount of work to do regarding how the app can be taken into use,” Gun Peggy Knudsen of FHI told newspaper Dagsavisen, “but it will be as soon as possible.”
