Norway’s national women’s handball team has long been a major player, quite literally, on the international stage. They were still celebrating Monday after beating France Sunday night to claim the European Championship.
Commentators called it a thrilling match by all accounts, after Norway narrowly won by a score of 22-20. Star player Nora Mørk made a smashing comeback after no less than four knee operations since the team last took Euro gold in 2016.
“It was just unreal to play this match,” Mørk claimed through tears of joy to TV3. “I feel like I’ve been dreaming!” She said she was proud and wanted to thank everyone who helped her back: “It’s just so unreal to stand here now, after taking back the throne.”
Team captain Stine Bredal also won wide acclaim for her performance while she praised Mørk. “She continues to impress, time after time,” Bredal said after the championship was secured at the final in Denmark.
