A 25-year-old man from Skien, southwest of Oslo, has once again been found guilty on several counts of terrorism and sentenced to 12 years in prison. He was convicted by the appeals court Borgarting lagmannsrett of taking part in the terrorist organization IS, for attempted acts of terrorism and for encouraging terror.
Norwegian prosecutors claimed he was behind three attempts to encourage terrorism abroad via online chat groups that he administered. They initially sought a 14-year jail term that was later reduced.
The man’s defense attorney, however, told state broadcaster the appeals court verdict would also be appealed.
