The US Embassy in Oslo has already been actively passing along information to Americans visiting the embassy on how to vote from abroad. Now its staff is boosting efforts to raise awareness for overseas absentee voting.
The embassy is working with the Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP) to promote overseas voting in Norway. FVAP is a nonpartisan organization keen on ensuring that American military personnel stationed abroad and American citizens living abroad are aware of their right to vote.
As the important presidential election looms in November, FVAP is also stepping up efforts to spread the message that Amerians can “vote from anywhere” while overseas. American citizens can register and request an absentee ballot at FVAP.gov (external link).
Partisan organizations such as VoteFromAbroad, tied to the Democatic Party, have also been urging expatriate Americans to vote, not least in upcoming state primary elections. The federal election will be held on November 5.
