Three masked men were reportedly seen running from the scene of a shooting inside an apartment in Oslo’s Grünerløkka neighbourhood Wednesday night. Their target was a man in his 20s, who was said by police to be critically injured but conscious when ambulance crews arrived.
Police said there also were others in the apartment at the time of the shooting shortly before 8pm. They were being questioned while police accompanied by dogs searched the neighbourhood and spoke with witnesses who saw the alleged assailants fleeing the scene. A police helicopter also flew overhead.
“We think this is a targeted internal attack within a certain milieu,” Tore Barstad of the police told reporters at the scene. Police have recently received extra funding to help investigate and fend off such attacks, several of which are believed tied to international criminal networks and gangs involved in drug and human trafficking.
