Police in Oslo were investigating two separate shootings in the greater metropolitan area during the night. No one was hurt but the search is on for at least one assailant, or more.
The first shooting occurred just before 10pm at Jessheim, which has grown into a major residential area near Oslo’s main airport at Gardermoen. It was directed at a home, and neighbours called police.
The second shooting occurred in another residential area, at Kværnerbyen in downtown Oslo. The area is full of relatively new high-rise apartments, and gang violence often involves shooting at homes to frighten their occupants.
There were no injuries in either shooting, but prosecutor Kristin Feed confirmed that police are searching for one or more offenders. She said it was most important to clarify the background and motive for the shootings, one of which shattered a window in a residential complex. Police had earlier stated that they suspected goal-oriented attacks and don’t think the shootings were coincidental.
