As many as 8,000 young skiers are expected to turn up in Oslo’s Frogner Park on Sunday, for what’s billed as the world’s largest skiing event for children.
The annual Barnas Holmenkolldag (Children’s Holmenkoll Day) starts at 9:30am and features ski races, shows and games for children as young as four.
The event is sponsored by Skiforeningen, the big local ski association, and is being held at the city park because of ongoing construction at Holmenkollen itself.
Oslo Mayor Fabian Stang will open the day’s events, which include the 250-meter-long Bunny Run for the youngest, the one-kilometer Teddy Bear Run for those a bit older and the two-kilometer Moose Run for the oldest children.
All those taking part win a prize.
