Norway’s women’s national football team is off to a promising start on its way to the World Cup after beating Belgium 4-1 on home turf in Oslo Wednesday night.
Kristine Wigdahl scored no less than three goals herself after Caroline Graham Hansen started it all with a goal after just four minutes of play. The 18-year-old from Oslo is known for what newspaper Aftenposten called her “fantastic balance and incredible technique.”
The women’s team has done much better than their male counterparts, winning silver in the European Championships last summer. Now they have their sights set on the next FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada in June 2015. The team’s next qualifying match will be against Albania, also at home at Ullevaal Stadium in Oslo on October 26.
