Two dead after shooting at Økern

UPDATED: A man in his 70s is believed to have shot and killed another man in his 60s at Økern in Oslo Tuesday morning. The victim was rushed to hospital, badly wounded, and died shortly thereafter.

The man believed to have shot him was also found dead later in the morning. “He has most probably shot himself,” Gunhild Finne Nilsen of the Oslo Police District told state broadcaster NRK.

Police wouldn’t initially comment on the relation between the two people involved but later said they had done business together. Police technicians were examining the business where the shooting took place and working to establish a motive.

Police were questioning witnesses to learn more about what occurred before the first emergency call came in at 9:02am. Police then traced the alleged assailant, the man in his 70s, who had fled the scene. “He was located by a police patrol and found dead in a garage,” Stein Olav Bredeli of the Oslo Police District later told NRK. He added that the two men “had business relations.” Police wouldn’t release more information pending notification of next of kin.
