The Norwegian government has decided to send nearly NOK 300 million (USD 50 million) in additional aid to victims of the floods in Pakistan.
Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said the situation for as many as 9 million people in the flood-ravaged country remains critical and that “we must show our solidarity with the flood victims.”
Norway already has donated around NOK 115 million to the flood victims in Pakistan and the additional money will also be channeled through the United Nations, the Red Cross and various aid organizations.
Norway is home to thousand of immigrants from Pakistan, who also have been raising funds for flood relief in their homeland.
