More Norwegians are traveling to Germany as the country surges as a popular visitor destination, according to new tourism statistics from Germany’s national tourist office.

The number of Norwegians heading for Germany was up 17.6 percent last year, amounting to 730,000 overnight stays, reports newspaper Aftenposten.

Berlin is the most popular destination, while Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt and Dusseldorf have also attracted steadily more Norwegian visitors, as have Germany’s wine districts.
