Flood repairs for a full year

The railroad between Oslo and Dombås needs repairs in 300 different spots following the massive flooding that hit the valley of Gudbrandsdalen in late May, according to state railroad Jernbaneverket.

In one area, the gravel foundations under the rails have been washed away over a 300-meter stretch of the railway, a Jernbaneverket spokesman told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) on Saturday.

Railroad officials estimates it could take a full year to complete repairs of the major rail line, meaning work would be completed just in time for next year’s flood season.
