Police in Oslo were asking the public for help in tracking down two men who stabbed a doorman at an outdoor restaurant next door to the Nobel Peace Center over the weekend. They’re calling the stabbing a case of attempted murder.
“We think there are more witnesses who may have important information who haven’t come forward it yet,” Grete Lien Metlid of the Oslo Police District told reporters.
The stabbing occurred around 1:30am on Sunday at the restaurant Alfreds Hage (Alfred’s Garden), named for the Peace Prize founder Alfred Nobel. The doorman remained in critical condition at a local hospital on Monday, stabbed after intervening in what’s believed to have been a conflict among restaurant guests waiting in line at the restroom. “We think a situation occurred after that, resulting in the doorman being stabbed,” Metlid said.
The suspects were last seen fleeing along Munkedamsveien in Vika. Metlid said they tried to cover their faces with their own clothes while leaving the restaurant.
